Baby and Bankroll

"You should never start out bluffing at a pot and keep bluffing at it without an out." - Doyle Brunson

I haven’t written in a week or so, so I thought I owed my blog an update.

Not Poker:

First, the wife is ready to pop any at any given moment now with baby #4, yeah that’s not a typo – we really have three other kids. The other three are 9, 6, and 1 respectively. We are officially NOT having Irish twins, as my 1-year old’s birthday was Sunday. We just read about this thing called counter-ception, or something like that, meh- can’t remember the details…

Regardless, the wife is scheduled for induction Thursday and is basically immobile at this point. She is counting the minutes until the baby comes. I am on call at all times, and we are officially at DEFCON 4, as she is having contractions almost around the clock. Last night she we were timing them and debating on weather or not to make a run to the hospital as they were down to 6 minutes apart – she falls asleep. She is amazing. If anyone has ever heard of someone falling asleep DURING 6 minute contractions, please email me.

Ahhh Poker:

Next, my online play has gotten stale, I’m not down, but I am also not up. I started with a $100 deposit and a $30 bonus. I maxed out the bankroll at $221, but I have been hovering between $160 and $180 ($175.68 as of this blog).

I don’t feel like I am playing badly, but then I probably wouldn’t “know” it if I was. I don’t think I am a fish, but poker tracker is telling me that my VPIP is 26% in tournaments (all SNG) and over 30% in ring games.

What pisses me off the most is that when I do call a lot of hands in ring games, I WIN. When I play tight in those games I lose. My “big hands” always get cracked. When I play loose and just go with the vibe at the table, I clean up. I have stopped using PT when I play now because I am so worried about my stats that it is throwing off my game.

Does anyone know where to find information on how to “fix your game” based on your stats? I mean I have all this great statistical data now – but what the heck do I do with it?

Anyway, enough bitching. I am really psyched about Vegas. We leave in 33 days!
