I feel your pain

Mike, I know you’re out there and I feel your pain.

I have gotten away from the $25 ring games as well, they suck and someone is always drawing out on you with Q high crap. Hard to be consistently profitable against that.

I am playing SNG’s pretty much exclusively as well, but I have moved off of the $5+1 tables. The play on the $10 tables is about the same (a little tighter, actually) and you don’t get hit with that extra $1 service charge. The payouts are much better as well.

You have my email – send me your screen name and I will add you to my buddy list!

Hey, its Mike, Jeff's friend.

Ugh, i am a retard and taking a slight poker break for a week or so...

I've lost my original $50 that i deposited and need to refill, which i will do, just after i get myself under control!

I brought my original 50 up to about 70-80 and was doing quite well until i hit a streak of bad beats for 6 SnG's in a row bringing me down to around 45. That being the first time i was ever down, i stupidly decided i would go to the 25 NL ring games to, "Win it back real quick." Needless to say winning it back quick was the worst idea ever and i played way too loose and made stupid decisions and lost very fast.

It is obvious to me, now, that i am prone to tilting too easily and need to take breaks after some bad beats instead of going off the deep end. Tilting destroys your game, plain and simple.

I know my strengths, MTT and SnG's, and so i need to stick to them; even when on a bad streak. It is frustrating that i built up a decent roll in a month only to lose it in one day, lol.

I think i will also go to the 10+1 tables upon a reload. I play better when people at the tables are better and tighter, like late in tournaments.

When i get back in the game i will defenitely look you up.

Later.

It's Mike again.

Well, taking a poker break lasted shorter than i originally thought it would. With the wife working nights 3 times a week, the itch to play was too much for me to ignore while i sit of the couch doing nothing.

That being said, i did some field work and decided that while PartyPoker has a lot of players, it is not the best place to play. My new home is PokerRoom.com and it has a lot of advantages.

Number 1, it has a great community of players. There is a forum board on their website that is fun to post on and full of useful information in some of the threads.

Two, the $5 SnG's only have a .50 fee AND you start with 1500 chips instead of 800, making it feel like less of a crap shoot. I seem to do even better in these games than in PP.

Three, there are tons of MTTs. On the site they have a weekly schedule for the big ones, but you can also always find a $5 or $10 MTT starting within 30 min. Along the same line, the tournaments dont get THAT large. The freerolls, ofcourse, cap out at the 2000 player max, but the others seem to only attract 200-400 making your odds pretty good. In PP, it always seemed like the MTT had well over 2k.

Four, the graphics on PR are better than PP, but that doesnt matter too much to me since poker is poker, but, PR also has a non-download way to play if you happen to be on a different computer and want to play without a download or on a Mac.

Five, you can deposit as little as $20 on PR and i did just that to try it out. So far i've brought it up to $50ish. I havent had any luck thus far with the 200-400 people $5 MTT that i mentioned, but i plan to take one down soon. They are a great way to make your money last as the things take 3 hours or so. I find myself sitting in on one when i am up in my roll, so i dont go lose my winnings too fast. Plus, first place in one of these is around 300-500 bucks, which would be awesome.

Anywho, i'm rambling again. Just thought i would share if you, too, are tired of PP.

To be fair, PR's player point system does accumulate a lot slower than PP's, but, seeing as how any tournament i entered using my PP points had 2000+ people in it, i never really had a chance to begin with.

Here is the forum link if you get bored at work and want something to browse...

Good luck with your poker.
