Live poker
I finally got to play some “live poker” after a several-month hiatus. With Mrs. Sponge being in the last stages of pregnancy since January it has been tough for us to get out and play at all. We have had a couple of home games, but usually with much protest. Saturday night was a welcome change. We had a sitter and we went out to play. Again, just a home game with a small buy-in but it was fun just to get out of the house not have the kids for a few hours.
I won exactly 1 hand, and to top that off it was a split pot (A-high straights). I was dealt zero pairs and my best hand of the night was A7s, which I had to fold on the turn due to someone’s all-in on a completely junk flop (they busted out on a K9o – serves them right).
So I got to watch a lot of poker. I will say to their credit that there play has improved substantially since the last time I played with them. There was far less fishy-ness at the table and much tighter play. It made for better poker, but only if you have cards. Mrs. Sponge actually took 3rd place and got our buy-in's back.
Any advice on what poker rooms to visit on my impending trip to Vegas is much appreciated. My plane leaves in 93 hours and 9 minutes (but who’s counting?).
